TYMBA

After successfully exiting their previous startup, Robert and Simone decided to buy a boat. The boat needed some repair work and through this, they had to deal with tropical hardwood. When they learned how much ecological and social damage the use of those woods inflicts to the world, they came to an important realisation: the market lacks sustainable, high-performance materials to replace tropical hardwoods.

To fill this gap, they got their long-time friends Sebastian, Pierre and Dieter on board and founded TYMBA in 2023, firmly resolved to develop an innovative alternative to tropical wood. Two years later, TYMBA’s material does not only compete with traditional hardwoods, it even rivals’ aluminium in hardness.

With their solution, the team led by Pierre and Sebastian aims to reduce global reliance on tropical woods and, in the long run, replace other resource-intensive materials, paving the way for a carbon-negative and more sustainable future.
