Dr. Stefanie Stegmann and Christian Schröder from (H)ear free in Halle (Saale) work on facilitating the communication between elderly or hearing impaired people by using bone conduction headphones that are linked to a microphone. (H)ear free uses this technology to transfer vibrations via the cranial bone directly to the acoustic nerve without blocking the outer ear.
